Feather boas have long been used as a costume accessory for Roaring 20's flappers, Las Vegas showgirls, sexy Burlesque dancers or just a fun add-on to a crazy costume. Now Happy Boa is offering a feather free alternative that doesn't drop feathers everywhere and maybe best of all doesn't have quills poking and scratching your neck like a feather boa.
Every Halloween you see a mix of new costumes and traditional ones on kids and adults alike. Thats what’s great about costume accessories like boas, they add a little color of fun to something you may pull out of the closet. You like your Zombie costume from last year but don't want an exact repeat? Then add a Bubblegum SuperBoa and POW! You have an updated look for about $15. Happy Boa extends the life of a costume or outfit. or if you are like many folks and wait until the night of the costume party to select an outfit, then you just go in your closet and pick out your funnest stuff, add a Happy Boa and you are ready to go. That's what's great about making your costume, the options are limitless. We’ll explore DIY costumes in a future blog post.
Whats also sets the new Happy Boa apart from old feather boas is its colorfast. So it wont stain your costume and its machine washable. Don't even think about washing a feather boa. That would be a disaster for you and your washing machine, not to mention the boa. Happy Boas are durable so with a little care you’ll have a high quality boa for many parties and events long after you've thrown away a cheap feather boa.
So how do you make a feather boa without feathers? Happy Boa uses high quality yarn and sews it to durable ribbon. There are three styles: Original featherless boa, Super Boa and Faux Fur Festival boa.
The Hot Yellow Faux Fur is blacklight friendly so if you are a real raver or just playing one for Halloween, you'll love the attention you get from goblins and vampires excited to see you. You can decide for yourself whether they get a Trick or Treat.
So check out Happy Boa online at Party City. Get on their email list to get offers for free shipping. Buying online is pretty easy when it comes to your door and you don't have to pay for shipping. Heres a link to their Halloween costumes page and I saw where they have closeouts for as low as $5! PartyCityHalloweenCostumes.

Its 107 heat index and I want to talk faux fur?! Really? Well ya, its going to be winter day after tomorrow so lets get ready for fall fashion. New to market is Happy Boa’s Faux Fur Festival Boa. “I already have fake fur in my closet” Ya but not like this. Happy Boa is using yarn to make what may be the softest faux fur around. “Oh my!” It happens almost every time a customer touches a Happy Boa faux fur for the first time. They know faux fur is pretty but can be a little rough. They feel the Festival Boa and want to know if its available as a comforter. Not kidding. Its that soft. Super soft.
So its a little slinky, not as full as some other products out there, so call it trim or svelte. Its minimalist. Maybe its a scarf more than a boa, but no matter what you call it, its different from other faux furs. And they come in bold colors that add a splash of color while not being loud. It mischievously says “look at me” rather than screaming “I want to be noticed”. Hey we all want to be noticed but in a good way. Seven colors are in stock including blacklight friendly Hot Yellow or choose Ice White, Bisbee Blue, Red, Hot Pink, Soft Pink or the never out of style black .
Black and Bisbee Blue look so chic on a well dressed male. On a tuxedo or matching bow tie, the Happy Boa faux fur sets your man apart from all the other black and white formal penguins at the gala. He stands out while again not screaming for attention.
So why do they call it a Festival Boa? Well turns out the Rave and EDM crowd like the super sexy faux fur for their costumes and outfits. Look for the blacklight Hot Yellow to make a grand entry at the all night dance parties. But with the fall weather a nice faux fur festival boa around your neck is a good idea to stay warm when the sun sets at your next music festival. And for socially conscious music fans its all about MOOP and LNT. No idea what that is? Well for festivals like Burning Man, it has become policy to not destroy the earth you party on. MOOP is Matter Out of Place so feather boas are a no no because you leave a mess behind. LNT is Leaving No Trace which is almost impossible with tens of thousands off music worshippers but its good policy to think about your impact when its multiplied by thousands of fellow attendees. So Happy Boa is a product that by design doesn't shed or leave messy feathers behind. And because its washable it will survive those three day festivals and be ready for that next road trip event.
Another important impact is on animals. Happy Boa is vegan friendly because no animals products are used to make any of their boas. No feathers. No fur. Fun fashion with good karma.
They are a new company but their retail network is growing and you can find them 24/7 on Amazon and happyboa.com. But photos don't tell the whole story, you've gotta feel that faux fur to get that “Ohhhhhhh!!!” moment.

The original series starred actors actors Al Lewis as Grandpa, the ever sexy and alluring Yvonne De Carlo as Lily and Fred Gwynne as Herman Muntser. The latest incarnation has Charity Wakefield as Marilyn, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie Munster, Portia De Rossi as Lily Munster and Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster.
I watched Munster reruns countless times a s a kid, it was right up there with The Addams family for spooky but innocent fun. The modern Munsters looks to have a mischievous and maybe more dark or cynical bent? Who knows. Its an NBC project so lets see where they take it. If it was on AMC or Netflix you know the dark humor would seep into the script. So will NBC take some chances or play it safe? It seems everything has been remade for TV or Cinema and sometimes is a lazy way of making new content, but I'm honestly excited to hear The Munsters are coming back. Seth Myers probably has a few devilish tricks up his sleeve to make for some great laughs and in today's mixed up world there is no shortage of topics he can delve into to make some biting commentary but give us a few laughs.
I ran across the news from my daily email Your Daily Wrap by Getty Images. See all thats happening across the world in about 5 brilliant photos. The lead off was the tense and tragic experience of racial protests in Charlottesville, so it was nice to see the last images had a bit of comic relief with the news of The Munsters. It brought back memories of time well spent enjoying comedy from an era that was just as complex but wasn't allowed to show it in sitcoms. But looking back at old episodes I'm sure writers were able to write between the lines to get past the censors. We've always lived in challenging times and humor has been a great vehicle to call ou those who need calling out. Seth Myers has a great cynical wit so lets see where he takes this project.

We recently met studio owner and instructor Melissa Cloutier in Las Vegas where she instantly fell in love with our Faux Fur boa. She ordered a dozen and will be using them for classes and bachelorette parties. Check out Red Hot & Ladlylike Dance Studio on faceBook in the next few weeks to see the new Happy Boa in action.
So if you are a Maid of Honor or one of the bride's maids, consider a burlesque bachelorette party the bride will never forget. Who knows, it might even lead to taking some classes to keep the passionate fires burning in the bedroom longer after the honey moon.

The Truth Behind Feathers:
Many feathers are sourced from countries with zero animal protection policies. Without regulation, farms are free to engage in the practice of live plucking, in which feathers are ripped from the helpless birds. This process is repeated multiple times throughout the birds' lives in order to maximize feather yield before they are finally processed for the food industry.
Even in countries with strict regulations, companies are finding it difficult to effectively enforce these standards. Alternative means of feather collection, such as mechanical shearing and grooming, are still found to cause unnecessary stress and pain for the birds.
Do your part to end live plucking and the maltreatment of animals.

Although people loved them(feather boas) we’ve tired clearing all the mess constantly and, also after looking into them more... not very kind to birds.
